On our March hike we will explore how federal agencies are moving away from recreation and towards increased logging on public lands. We will spend the day within the Annie's Cabin timber sale, which is logging over a popular trail within the Molalla River Recreation Corridor. Concurrent with this we are seeing Mt Hood National Forest privatizing their campgrounds that dont earn enough money will losing millions on logging public lands each year. More... APR

Since the beginning, Bark has offered free, monthly hikes to Mt. Hood National Forest and other surrounding public lands. We believe that by witnessing the breathtaking Cascade ecosystem and learning about the many threats facing it, we can build stronger advocates for the protection of our public lands. Our hike leaders are passionate, knowledgeable volunteers who incorporate information about forest ecology and policy with how to get involved in our efforts!

Groundtruthing involves documenting threats to public forests and finding inconsistencies between what public land managers say they are doing and what is actually going on in the forest. This information is essential for building a legal and public case for stopping destructive projects.
