Hi Friend of the Forest,

Right now, thousands of acres of Mt. Hood National Forest are threatened by commercial logging. In the last year, Bark has challenged 5 logging projects—each prioritizing commercial timber over clean drinking water, wildlife habitat, areas of cultural value, and our region’s climate resilience.

We’ve witnessed an increase in the recklessness of these projects, but we are committed to establishing strong opposition to the Forest Service’s skewed priorities. We groundtruth in the snow, appeal court rulings that ignore climate science, climb 100ft into the trees to look for threatened species, and debunk “forest health” schemes and false wildfire rhetoric that drive increased logging of our carbon rich ecosystem.

Keeping watch and pushing back is more critical now than ever—and this year the Give!Guide is getting the word out to a new generation to Do Good for Mt. Hood!

Doing good for Mt. Hood is more than being a watchdog; it's about changing the way we as a community relate to the public lands we depend on. Together, we explore the deep corners of the forestnavigate environmental policygrow to be effective advocates, and learn fascinating ecological facts along the way. Each one of us plays an important role in the future of these forests and Bark is on a mission to show you where you can plug in.

As part of the campaign, amazing local businesses are thanking supporters through “Big Give Days” which feature unique prizes as an extra token of gratitude. Today is the first Big Give Day! Today all gifts of $10 or more are entered to win a $500 Powell’s shopping spree. 35 and under? You have twice the chance of winning as they'll be sending out an additional gift!

All Bark donors will be entered to win these amazing prizes donated specifically to Bark’s fundraising campaign:

The Give!Guide is a wonderful opportunity to increase our impact and win big. Thank you for supporting our work to protect the forests, waters, and wildlife of Mt. Hood.
