Come explore iNaturalist, a fantastic community science tool for all levels of naturalists and nature lovers. iNaturalist is a app and web-based platform to record observations of organisms across the world. Anyone can make observations using a digital camera or smart phone, which can be used by organizations like BARK to leverage biodiversity data across space and time. Join us to explore the basics of using iNaturalist and its potential as a community science tool.  Check out inaturalist.org or download the app today to get started!

About the Presenter

Lauren (she/they) is a naturalist and geographer that explores the connectivity of human and non-human communities.  She brings together social and natural sciences to create holistic and meaningful education programs for youth and adults in the classroom and in the field.  Lauren currently facilitates BARK's Understory Bookclub, a monthly-ish meeting of volunteers interested in informing and expanding BARK's mission to transform Mt. Hood National Forest into a place where natural processes prevail, where wildlife thrives and where local communities have a social, cultural, and economic investment in its restoration and preservation.

At the close of the meeting we will leave time open to further explore the topics of the evening, delve deeper into Bark's work to protect Mt Hood and browse the Bark library. Our library is more than a physical space; it is also intangible, represented by volunteers who are knowledgeable and accessible for people interested in learning more about our work, ecology, public lands management and advocacy. Come peruse our newly acquired selection of resources on everything from hiking to climate justice, and learn about what you can do to protect Mt. Hood National Forest!
