Bark's Grasshopper Campout

Friday, August 2, 2019 - 9:00am to Sunday, August 4, 2019 - 5:00pm

This is a public campout in the Mt. Hood National Forest, during which campers will support Bark’s forest defense program by working to gather critical field information on the newly proposed Grasshopper Timber Sale, located near Boulder Lake on the eastside of Mt. Hood. During this time, we will groundtruth the proposed logging units and conduct surveys for potential beaver habitat restoration and/or relocation.

This camp will be open to all participants who wish to join for any length of time (even if it’s just one day). However, it is most helpful if participants join camp each morning before 10am, as this is when the day’s activities will begin.

What to expect:

Our group campsite will be free of charge.

Need a ride, or looking to carpool? Here is our group carpool page

Schedule: People can arrive as early as 5pm on Thursday, August 1st to set up group camp. We will begin field work and activities the following day.

If you'd like to participate in field surveys, please be at camp by 9:45am on the day you'd like to participate. Each day will begin with a morning orientation for new participants to help prepare for the day ahead.
