2018 Base Camp After Party!

@ the Bark office
351 NE 18th Ave.

We appreciate the amazing energy, care, and hard work you put in to make this year's camp out a huge success, so we are throwing you a party!

We're BBQing! So if you are able, bring your favorite side dish to share! We'll cover the grillables, toppings, and beverages. This party is free and kid-friendly. We welcome you to bring your friends and family. We will accommodate vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dietary needs and preferences.

Because of your commitment, we groundtruthed the majority of the 4,000-acre North Clack Timber Sale in just two weeks! During this time, we located several sensitive and protected species including red tree voles (thanks NEST!), Allotropa virgata, and Usnea longissima. We also found unmapped riparian areas, old growth trees, and illegally built OHV trails. These issues and information position us favorably to respond to the release of the upcoming Environmental Assessment and 30-day comment period. Thank you!

For nearly 20 years, inspired, committed volunteers like you have kept your hearts, eyes and boots on the ground to protect this forest from the worst impacts of destructive commercial logging. Because of your work and the efforts of thousands of people who care about this incredible ecosystem Bark has saved over 20,000 acres from the cut. We are going to thank you a million times, so get used to it!

Base Camp 2018, in the proposed North Clack Timber Sale area, was supported by over 150 volunteers, groups like NEST, the Arctos School, Walama Restoration Project, the Mazamas, Cascadia Wild, Terra Incognita and local businesses like Alberta Co-op, New Cascadia Bakery, Equal Exchange, Dave's Killer Bread, Grand Central Bakery, OTA Tofu, Natural Grocers, Fraga Farmstead Dairy, T Project Studio, QFC, New Seasons, Fred Meyer and many more!
