October Bark About Hike : Up-Close View of Logging on Public Lands

Date:
Sunday, October 20, 2019 - 9:00am to 5:00pm

We will visit a timber sale in Mt. Hood National Forest, and compare the Forest Service's proposal with the conditions we find there. We'll learn about the process of public land logging proposals, and how public involvement makes a difference in keeping trees in the ground.  We'll visit ancient trees that are home to super-cute red tree voles.  It might be wet and cold!  The outing will involve off-trail hiking on uneven ground and steep slopes.

Carpools leave from the Hollywood Grocery Outlet, 4420 NE Hancock Street, (a few blocks from the Hollywood Transit Center, at the I-84 exit 2) in Portland at 9am sharp. If you are able to drive, we greatly appreciate your contribution to helping make a successful hike. If you are looking for a ride, please come prepared to reimburse your driver.  If you would like to arrange a meet-up closer to the forest, please let us know by giving us a call at our number below.

Bring a lunch, water, and anything else you'll need to stay comfortable in the forest. To protect off-trail resources, we ask you to leave your dog at home.

Call Bark at 503-331-0374 for more details and information.

If you are willing to drive in our carpool, please review Bark's Driver Safety Expectations before coming.
