Zigzag Timber Sale Comment-Writing: Climate Change

Tuesday, August 4, 2020 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

The Forest Service has just released the draft Environmental Assessment of the Zigzag Integrated Resource Project, a proposal that would end a 20-year respite from logging in the Zigzag Ranger District. If approved, this project would log areas of sensitive native forest on Mt. Hood including near popular recreation areas along Lolo Pass Rd, Trillium Lake & Old Maid Flat. This workshop will address the failure of the Forest Service to account for carbon emissions and lost carbon storage capacity associated with this project and explain the best arguments to make in the public comment process to urge the agency to address climate change as this project is developed.
